As someone who grew up in northern Utah, I thought I knew what it meant to live in a desert. There are mountains, it's dry, if you drive a little ways you can find salt flats and sand dunes. I knew the air was dry, it was hot in the summer, and freezing in the winter. But it wasn't until I moved to southern Utah that I really learned what it means to live in the desert.
The desert is BEAUTIFUL. I never thought I would be a desert girl, but the longer I live here the more I fall in love with the red rock, the wispy grasses, the scrubby yellow wildflowers, the palm trees and cacti and Joshua trees. It is such an incredible and diverse place to live, and I consider myself lucky that I get to be a photographer here every day!
One thing that amazes me about southern Utah is the ridiculous diversity in landscapes. Before I moved here, I had no idea what a Joshua tree was, and now I shoot with them all the time! This beautiful desert styled shoot planned by the amazing Rylee Jo Photography showcased the amazing Joshua trees of the southwest desert, in addition to some beautiful blue mountains that Utah is so known for. Paired with stunning florals, a bohemian dress, incredible decor, and gorgeous models, the shoot was everything I hoped it would be and more. Check out the amazing vendors who were involved below - I love getting to know and work with such talented people on a daily basis!
