When I think of Las Vegas, I think of beautiful deserts, fancy themed hotels, and sunny, hot weather. The last thing I expected when I visited for Amber & Jake's engagement photos was a frigid, windy snow storm! Sometimes in the desert we get crazy, unexpected winter weather, but it's so rare that we hardly have to worry about it. President's Day weekend this year gave us a huge surprise by dumping about 8 inches of snow in St. George, and some wicked blizzards in Vegas.
Usually when I know of crazy weather, I mention the option of rescheduling a session, because let's be honest: no one wants to stand outside in freezing weather to have their pictures taken. But Amber & Jake are a fantastically adventurous couple, and we weren't about to reschedule! We started their session at a beautiful little park with their adorable pup, Eva. She was such a good girl and posed perfectly for every photo. By the time we left the park, the snow had begun.
Red Rock Canyon is a beautiful park in Summerlin, just outside of Las Vegas, and seeing it in the snow was incredible. We drove through some crazy snow clouds that hid the mountains from us, and hiked to a creek between bouts of strong wind. Amber & Jake were troopers, and we bundled up between photos to keep our fingers from turning purple. We were nervous about how the snow would affect the photos, but DANG. It made them so much more magical! I had so much fun with Amber & Jake as their engagement photographer, and cannot WAIT to hang out with them more as their Las Vegas Wedding Photographer!
