So, maybe you're wondering...

Lindsay, how did you get here? Where did your photography journey start?
It's kind of a funny story.
Photography was never my plan. Weird, right? I mean, I could tell the stereotypical story and say I always liked taking photos, I started with my dad's old film camera and a darkroom when I was 14, etc. etc. Which, yes, that did happen. But that was just for a class. In junior high. Before I had any idea what I actually wanted to do with my life.
When I went to college, I had two main passions: interior design and music. So that's what I studied. I received a Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design from Utah State University (go Aggies!) as well as a graphic design minor, and I used all my elective credits on choir and music classes.
Photography was not my plan.
After I graduated in 2013, I immediately started a job at a high-end interior design firm in Salt Lake City. And while the work was incredible and gave me amazing opportunities, I felt like something was missing from my life.
What did start to bring me excitement again was in 2014 when I got my first DSLR camera. Taking photos of ordinary people in extraordinary places became an exciting challenge for me. I was constantly thinking of new places, new poses, new tricks I could learn with my camera.
So I started my little side hustle. It wasn't easy working as a full-time designer with a part-time photography business on the side. But I did it, and I'm so glad I did.
In the Fall of 2018, my husband started medical school in southern Utah. I never in a MILLION YEARS would have guessed we would end up here, but it has been such a blessing. I was forced to leave my job in Salt Lake and I thought, "If there was ever a time to pursue photography full time, it's now."
So here I am. Five years and a million photos later, I'm a full-time photographer in (arguably) one of the most unique and beautiful places on the planet.
And photography is the plan.
